We are now in the stages of getting everything in order for our trip. Pat and I both gave our 2 weeks notice at work, (which was an awesome experience for both of us). We have slowly but surely been selling things, and this weekend I'm going to get some packing/ taking stuff for donation done. Hopefully I'll sell a few items as well this weekend. Right now the selling of things is more so we don't take up a ton of room at our parents' house rather then for money for the trip, although every little bit will help. Our apartment complex is hosting a yard sale on April 24th, which is perfect because that is the last weekend we will be here. Hopefully we wil be able to sell any last remaining items there. It's been a little weird calling up all of our utilities to schedule to have them turned off when we move. I called one and explained that we were canceling our service because we are moving, and the lady on the other side asked "where?" and I replied " New Zealand". She was instantly excited for us, and wishing us the best of luck, and saying how jealouse she was of us. I was surprised how excited a stranger could be for our little adventure, it was really encouraging. But at the same time, I have been struck by how many people say "Oh, I'd love to do something like that, but I just don't think I ever could". That kind of makes me sad, I hope that more people out there realize that although it may be a huge adjustment and take a lot of work, but they should never give up hope of doing something that they would love. Pat and I have had to work hard to save up enough and get things in order, but it hasn't by any means been so hard that anyone else woudn't be able to do it, or that if we had it to do again that we would decide that it was too much sacrafice. So, here's to finding a place in our lives for the things that we love, and the things that we dream of. Cheers!
Hi there! I'm Skeeter. I grew up moving a lot and that makes me a bit restless for travel and exploration. I started this blog with my husband Pat when we decided to backpack New Zealand for a year. We are always looking for the next adventure and are loving life. We're just your average couple with two sassy dogs and a love for travel. We're sharing our travels and the tips we pick up along the way.
Hello! I'm Liz. Blogging is very new to me, but I'm so excited to finally write as much as I talk!
