So, we finished everything we needed for Delilah yesterday. We got her new plates, put her in our name, registered her and got insurance. The Backpacker's car market was nice enough to keep her overnight so we wouldn't have to pay to park her at the hotel. We are gonna go get her in a couple of hours when they open and load her up and get on the road for the north country! We are really excited to get out of town and to the beach. Don't get me wrong though, Auckland is nice, particularly for a big city. It kind of has a San Fransico feel to it. Lots of big hills that we had the chance to walk up and down and back up on, a beautiful warf with lots of sail boats. There's a big rally car race going on here. Pat saw some French racers in the hotel last night, I was a little jealous! So, if you ever find yourself in Auckland, here are a few things you can see here: free beer samples at the grocerie store, people from every corner of the world, lots of neat stores and cafes, sail boats, bungie jumping from the sky tower ( we decided bungie jumping over a river from a brigde was more our style), lots of backpackers cruising in their vans, and we did see a couple of transvestite hookers, one gave me a come hither nod, (that's what I get for stairing!) While we weren't roaming the city streets we were in our room watching a lot of cricket. I was hoping I could tell you that we've got it all figured out, but alas, we don't. Hopefully by the end of this trip, that'll change. Well we are gonna be heading out soon. I don't know if we will be online for a couple of days, but I hope to let you know how the beaches are soon!
P.S. Below is a picture of a cricket game in progess. It's a weird game!
Hi there! I'm Skeeter. I grew up moving a lot and that makes me a bit restless for travel and exploration. I started this blog with my husband Pat when we decided to backpack New Zealand for a year. We are always looking for the next adventure and are loving life. We're just your average couple with two sassy dogs and a love for travel. We're sharing our travels and the tips we pick up along the way.
Hello! I'm Liz. Blogging is very new to me, but I'm so excited to finally write as much as I talk!
