Wow! thanks to Sarah at Journey to Design for nominating us for a Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award.
On one hand I think bloggers are a little competitive. We're all fighting for your attention and new readers. All you kind readers out there can only read so many blogs in one day after all. I've also found that bloggers also have a tight nit community. We're always sharing tips, ideas, and encouragement. It's so great. I've "met" a lot of great bloggers from all over the world by writing Happy Travelers. So, it was really sweet when Sarah nominated us for the Sisterhood of the Wold Bloggers. It acknowledges the unique voice of women out in the world and I think brings us a bit closer together.
In addition to that, the deal is that I need to answer Sarah's questions. So, let's get down to business!
1. In your opinion: which country has the most exciting design?
A. Well, I'm just trowing this out there, because I haven't been yet. But, I think Spain has the most exciting design. I've been dying to go to Barcelona to see the amazing architecture there. That's a huge reason why I want to go.
2. What's #1 on your bucket list?
A. Oh geez, that's like making me choose my favorite pair of shoes. I want them all! If I HAD to choose, I think seeing the northern lights would be on top of my list. The great thing is that, it's not that hard of one to check off. The hard part is choosing the adventure in which to see them. Do I want to see them while visiting a waterfall in Iceland, or sledding through Alaska, or hiking in the mountains of Canada? Who am I kidding, I want to do it all!!
3. If you could recommend one country for us to visit, which one would it be?
A. For Happy Travelers readers, this is an easy one: New Zealand! It's my favorite place. The whole country is beautiful, so you'll never have a bad trip. The people are friendly and fun, and it's truly a magical place that everyone should visit.
4. Any special travel hacks?
A. I feel like over the years I started to get pretty good packing and tackling jet lag. You can check out my tips on Jet lag that I did for a guest post and my 2 weeks in a carry on post. They say travel isn't about the destination but about the journey. Well, I'm all about making the journey as easy as possible.
5. Backpack or cabin luggage?
A. That's a trick question. I prefer a backpack carry-on. I found this great bag, that I feature in my carry on post that is carry on size, can be converted to a duffle shoulder carry bag, expands and contracts based on how much you need to pack. It's fantastic! For a trip where you're not going to need camping gear or be prepared for extreme change in weather over a long trip...which is most trips, then this is my go to bag. I almost got into a fight with a gate agent when she tried making me check it. I HATE checking my bags...and I will fight you over it!
6. Any beauty secrets for travelling?
A. I try to keep things as simple as possible. While in the actual act of traveling, I do a few things. I make sure to drink plenty of water, and have water activated face wipes with me. You'll feel 100% better after you wash your face after being on the road for 36 hours. Making sure to drink plenty of water will make your skin look and feel better, and help with jet-lag. For more of those tips, check out my post on "How to arrive refreshed". For while I'm on vacation, I try and double up on products, so I'll use a BB cream instead of moisturizer, foundation, and concealer. I try and be low maintenance as possible. I have my trademark hair up that I do. It's a no heat way to curl my hair and then I get two days out of only one day of doing my hair= win. It's basically just tucking your hair around a headband...so easy. If you have questions, hit me up in the comments!
7. Which is your favourite city in the world?
A. If you had asked me this question 6 months ago, I probably would have had a different answer, but right now I'd have to say Tokyo. It's amazing in so many ways. It's huge and you can anything you could ever imagine plus a few things you couldn't imagine. With all that going on, it's still a stunningly gorgeous city filled with quite tranquil spots everywhere.
8. Best place to party?
And for their questions:
1. What tip would you offer to a first time traveler?
2. What item do you have to have with you on a trip?
3. Favorite travel themed book?
4. Where are you going next?
5. What inspired you to travel and to blog about it?
6. Best money saving tip?
7. Favorite travel memory?
8. Do you prefer ton travel solo or with others?
9. Favorite thing you've purchased while traveling?
10. For someone who has never traveled before, where should they go for their first trip?
Thanks everyone for stopping by, have an amazing weekend, and don't forget to travel happy!
Hi there! I'm Skeeter. I grew up moving a lot and that makes me a bit restless for travel and exploration. I started this blog with my husband Pat when we decided to backpack New Zealand for a year. We are always looking for the next adventure and are loving life. We're just your average couple with two sassy dogs and a love for travel. We're sharing our travels and the tips we pick up along the way.
Hello! I'm Liz. Blogging is very new to me, but I'm so excited to finally write as much as I talk!
