We have made it! We survived a minor melt down on my part, LAX, 17 hours of travel ( which works out to 2 days for us, its the 6th here), customs, boarder control, biosecurity screening, and made it to our hotel in one piece. In fact it was a lot smoother than I thought it would be. Air New Zealand is awesome! Not only did they serve us 2 hot meals, but dinner came with complimentary wine, and I think I saw the fixins for mimosas this morning, but it seemed too good to be true. The crew was very nice and waited on everyone for 13 hours hand a foot, they were wonderful!. Before we left we thouroughly cleaned our tent just in case, and it was a good thing. The bio security part of journey involved them going over every inch of our tent. But we got it back with no problems. Oh, and in case you all are wondering what my melt down was all about, I'll tell you. Pat deciced to go through all of our visa paperwork to make sure that everything was in order. Well it wasn't. When I filled it out, I messed up his birthdate, and everything has to match perfectly with your passport. I kind of freaked out and figured well, there goes our trip. I suppose I could go on without Pat, but that would suck. So we called New Zealand Immigration (with the help of Pat's mom) and everyone was very helpful and we got it taken care of. I never claimed to be good at details, but it all worked out : ) We are gonna go look at vans soon, I hope we find a good one!
Hi there! I'm Skeeter. I grew up moving a lot and that makes me a bit restless for travel and exploration. I started this blog with my husband Pat when we decided to backpack New Zealand for a year. We are always looking for the next adventure and are loving life. We're just your average couple with two sassy dogs and a love for travel. We're sharing our travels and the tips we pick up along the way.
Hello! I'm Liz. Blogging is very new to me, but I'm so excited to finally write as much as I talk!
