As we move through life I think it's pretty common to doubt the choices we've made or wonder how we've ended up where we are. I think it's pretty easy to beat ourselves up because we're not where we wanted/thought we would be by this time in our lives.
These thoughts can lead us to think that we're lost and that we'll never find our way. The truth is that we ARE on our way. Not a single one of us knows where exactly we're going though. That's kind of reassuring right?
Last year, I read 'Lean In' by Sheryl Sandberg. One of the most resonating parts of the book to me is when she talks about feeling like a fraud.
"I still face situations that I fear are beyond my qualifications. I still have days when I feel like a fraud."
Her feelings are not unique at all. Tina Fey, one of my favorite people, once confessed that she sometimes screams inside her head "I'm a fraud! They're on to me!"
That was crazy for me to read. Both of these women are hugely successful, incredibly intelligent, and yet they feel the exact same way I do all the time.
This realization doesn't diminish the impact of these thoughts though. These feelings can lead you to question why you even try, why you're on the path that you are, and that at any moment you're going to fail.
All of these feelings can lead you to feeling lost, but I want to tell you that EVERYONE feels like this.
The only real thing you can do is to put your head and your heat together and trust that you'll get where you are meant to be, even if you have no idea where that is. Always keep pushing forward and don't let yourself get discouraged.
This has taken me a long time to come to terms with. I love to plan plan plan. While I am still a big proponent of plans; planning will only get you so far. Sometimes you have to take a leap and seize that big opportunity, or regroup after a set back.
Trust in yourself and trust that the path you are on will take you exactly where you need to be...You're not lost, you're finding your way.
Always remember to travel happy!
Hi there! I'm Skeeter. I grew up moving a lot and that makes me a bit restless for travel and exploration. I started this blog with my husband Pat when we decided to backpack New Zealand for a year. We are always looking for the next adventure and are loving life. We're just your average couple with two sassy dogs and a love for travel. We're sharing our travels and the tips we pick up along the way.
Hello! I'm Liz. Blogging is very new to me, but I'm so excited to finally write as much as I talk!
